It’s a wrap!
Jung Yong Hwa, Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Gun have completed their last day of filming for Mi Rae’s Choice at Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, maintaining admirable focus and intensity until the cameras switched off. After working together day and night for 3-4 months, the actors have reportedly established a comfortable rapport and become as close as family, creating a warm scene as they wrapped up their final scene. Aww, this makes me so sad.
Yoon Eun Hye commented that the last three months passed by in a crazy whirlwind and hoped that Mi Rae’s Choice left warm memories for viewers. Lee Dong Gun noted that he’d felt pressure about making a comeback after such a long break, but the filming process was extremely enjoyable and promised to show an even better performance in the future. Jung Yong Hwa revealed that it was a challenge to show two such different sides to his character, but he gained strength from working alongside so many excellent senior actors and asks fans to continue sending their love and support until the end so that it can end happily. And finally, Han Chae Ah remarked that thanks to all the love they received, it made the cold winter seem warmer – she already misses the hard-working passion of the staff, actors and sunbaenim and wishes everyone a happy end of the year.
Reactions to the drama over the last few weeks have been largely a mix of rage, disappointment and confusion, but I’ve personally enjoyed most of the drama’s run and will be sad when I have to bid it goodbye tonight. I don’t think anyone can deny that the actors’ performances have been a true highlight of Mi Rae’s Choice, either; the four leads – Yoon Eun Hye, Lee Dong Gun, Jung Yong Hwa and Han Chae Ah – have been real standouts with their sensitive and layered portrayals of complex characters. Even if the writing hasn’t been up to par, I think all four have won new fans through their performances and can take away major positives from the experience.
Remember to catch the final episode of Mi Rae’s Choice at 10pm KST tonight on December 3rd, on KBS.
