The nominees for the 2015 Korea Drama Awards were announced earlier today (September 9th) and competition is fierce for who will win the Daesang and Top Excellence awards. MBC’s popular drama “Kill Me, Heal Me” is the most nominated drama, lead actor Ji Sung is nominated for the Daesang, whilst lead actress Hwang Jung Eum is nominated for Top Excellence Actress, the drama itself is also nominated for Best Drama. The 2015 Korea Drama Awards will be held on the 6th of October 2015 at Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Continue reading
Media portal Dispatch reported earlier today that “Pinocchio” leads Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye have been dating for four months. The report details that the two started a relationship back in January following the end of the filming for their drama “Pinocchio” (wait hang on that makes no sense, I think the report means that they started courting in January then and if they’ve only been officially dating for four months that means it got serious in March). Anyone going through Pinocchio withdrawals? Well don’t despair because Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk appear to be racking up photoshoots together since the ending of the drama(the two are currently the faces of outdoors brand Millet together), the latest shoot in question took them to London for InStyle Korea and boy does Park Shin Hye look even more gorgeous than when I posted about her last photoshoot with Ceci, like wow what is she doing these days because she looks absolutely stunning. The two also sat down for an interview where they talked about their impressions of each other, working together and their futures as actors. Continue reading
Another crop of dramas have come and gone in what’s largely been a far more promising second half of the year, as far as high quality shows are concerned. Unfortunately I don’t have time to talk about them all (perhaps later, after I’ve dealt with this irritating business of life outside of dramas and completed the recaps of the final episodes of the rolicking-good-fun The Three Musketeers), but the two standouts for me have been tvN’s Liar Game and OCN’s Bad Guys.
What I thought I would weigh in on with my brief first impressions is SBS’s Pinocchio, the recently-premiered drama from the PD-writer team behind I Hear Your Voice. The drama hit two-digit ratings with Episode 4 nationwide (10.4%) last week, but worth noting are the insanely highly online viewership ratings (34.1% – its competitors Mr. Back and The King’s Face are coming in with 14.1% and 7.3% respectively on that front).
SBS upcoming drama “Pinocchio” finally secures its male lead, Lee Jong Suk will be working once again with the team behind “I Hear Your Voice” which was highly popular when it was airing, and earned both Lee Jong Suk and his co-star Lee Bo Young numerous awards, hopefully “Pinocchio” will do just as well. Jong Suk will star as reporter Choi Dal Po alongside Park Shin Hye who confirmed her participation at the beginning of the month. Continue reading
Park Shin Hye (The Heirs, Heartstrings) is set to star as a woman who can’t lie in, in upcoming SBS drama Pinocchio. Continue reading
