Madame Antoine: First Impressions

Lee-Joo-Hyung-Sung-Joon-Han-Ye-Seul-Jung-Jin-Woon Ok I’m intrigued, like I was actually interested in this drama before because who doesn’t love a romance comedy with Han Ye Seul (Birth of a Beauty) playing a fake fortune teller, but now that I’ve watched the first two episodes I genuinely hope that the drama doesn’t go down the drain mainly because I can’t wait until Sung Joon’s (High Society) character Choi Soo Hyun is knocked down a peg or two or like five by Han Ye Seul’s character Go Hye Rim who is awesomely feisty. There isn’t really much to say when there have only been two episodes (well three by the time this post gets up) aired so it’s basically more like rough thoughts and impressions. In terms of ratings Madame Antoine kicked off its run with 0.88% which as JTBC is a cable channel is actually pretty good. Continue reading

30th Golden Disk Awards – Day 2

CZIuCkuVIAAtgYa
The 2016 30th Golden Disk Awards have come to a close after two days with the biggest winner of the night being EXO whom took home the all important “Album of the Year” award for their album EXODUS, like their win at the Seoul Music Awards, EXO are now the first group to take home the Album of the Year award for three consecutive years. The boys also won a Bonsang and Most Popular Global Artist however all these wins does not erase the fact that they turned up to the red carpet in possibly their worst outfits since their debut (which you can see below). Tonight the event was MC’d by Jun Hyun Moo, Super Juniors Leeteuk and F(x)’s Krystal whom replaced leader Victoria who couldn’t make the awards. SM took home the most awards for the night with four of their six active groups all taking home a Bonsang (although Red Velvet and SNSD received Bonsang’s from Day 1) so technically all of SM’s active groups won a Bonsang at this years Golden Disk Awards.

2016 Seoul Music Awards Winners and Performances

misc_1452767167_af_org
We kick off the year with the 25th Seoul Music Awards which were held at the Olympics Gymnastics Arena in Seoul Olympic Park on the 14th of January (shout out to EXO’s Kai who celebrated his birthday on this day). The awards were hosted by MC Jun Hyun Moo, actress Honey Lee (Tazza 2) and EXID‘s Hani. The unstoppable EXO took home the biggest award of the night, the Daesang (Grand Prize) for the third year running marking them as the first artists to win the award for more than two consecutive years. The group also won the most awards for the night, taking home a Bonsang Award as well the Hallyu Special Award. The event was not without it’s hiccups though with Song of the Year winners Big Bang absent from the event despite not having an actual group schedule for that night, another notable absence for the night was JYJ‘s Junsu whom won the Popularity Award (which was based solely on fan votes online) according to the producers they had decided not to present the award during the live show to save time for other “major” awards hence Junsu’s absence however the announcement was met with outrage by fans who accused organisers of not sending him an invite. Jun Hyun Moo who was one of the co-hosts for the night also came under some fire for his comments about his fellow co-hosts love lives. Singer Ailee also got in a bit of hot water when she was shown playing on her phone during SHINee‘s performance, the artist later took to social media to explain herself saying that she had been downloading an app that allowed her to show a message on her screen so that she could hold it up in support of SHINee, she was later seen using the app to support BoA and EXO during their performances.  Continue reading
